PART 2: THE BERKELEY MODEL REIMAGINED
Take a walk through our Waynewood addition
Many Waynewood homes built in the Berkeley model showcase classic all-brick construction. These houses are often split-level or multi-level, offering distinct living areas across different floors. Over the years, many have been thoughtfully updated or expanded by their owners, with renovations that often include larger living rooms and well-designed additions.
One defining feature of the Berkeley is its multi-level layout. However, the original design does not include a true primary suite—a feature many modern homeowners dream of, complete with a walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom with dual vanities. To meet this need, we’ve reimagined the Berkeley to create a luxurious owner’s retreat.
In the original floor plan, the fifth level housed a large unfinished attic. With the vision and craftsmanship of District Artisans, that space can now be transformed into a primary suite oasis. For example, in our Cyrus Place project in Waynewood, we added a rear shed dormer that preserved the home’s classic front façade while reshaping the back. The new dormer allowed for greater ceiling height, creating room for a walk-in closet, a spa-like bathroom, and a generously sized bedroom with space for a seating area.
Some might say it’s business in the front and party in the back—but for Berkeley homeowners, it’s truly the best of both worlds: timeless curb appeal with modern comfort.
