District Artisans LLC is a full-service, design build company owned by husband and wife team Michael Schmieder and Kelley Davies.
The duo specializes in custom residential design and construction across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. With craft and creativity, Michael and Kelley deliver a seamless design-build experience as a single entity.
Michael is a Virginia Class A licensed contractor. He was born and raised in Austria until he moved to America where he began his career in residential construction. In addition to having more than 10 years of construction experience, Michael has a background in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the Federal Higher Technical Institute in Austria.
Kelley is a licensed architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects. She holds a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Quinnipiac University. With nearly 10 years of experience at a high-end residential architecture firm in Old Town Alexandria, Kelley eventually founded her own firm.
The couple first met at an ice hockey arena in Austria where they both were playing professionally. They moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 2015 where they now call home.
